Talk in Stuttgart: Latvia in the 20th Century
On Friday, October 12, 2007, I will be speaking at the American Monthly Luncheon in Stuttgart on the topic of "Latvia in the 20th Century." I will give a brief overview of the three Baltic states in history, go into more detail on the experience of Latvia since 1905, and talk about the role of that history in contemporary Latvia.

Next, the "liberal" media?
I offered to come back to the group again next year and speak on another topic, perhaps comparative memorial culture and memorials or how the media is not liberal. I had the impression from the conversation over lunch that the group is fairly conservative and would enjoy hearing a liberal attack on the corporate media.
